History:
Exhibition Club, Godmanchester, U.K. |
The story of the connection between the Vienna rock band Nasty Habits and the founding member of one of the most famous band´s in the world - Deep Purple, Nick Simper, goes back to the year 2005. It was the Exhibition Club in Godmanchester, when Nick and Peter meet for the first time, on August 25 at a show of "The Good Old Boys". Being impressed by Nick´s powerful performance with his band, they talked after show about a possible concert in Austria. Nick was well interested, and so they decided to stay in contact. |
||
Finally it happened on May 25, 2007, that the Good Old Boys entered the stage of the "Reigen" club in Vienna in Austria for the very first time. A great performance with support band Nasty Habits, and for a special surprise Nick came up on stage when Nasty Habits played, to do a great version of Deep Purple´s first big hit in 1968 with them, Hush, a song which he hasn´t performed for 38 years! People absolutely got crazy about, ending up with standing ovations and minutes of applause. |

Nick really felt happy, and was very impressed to see people still loving his music from longer ago times. |
|
The project was titled The Deep Purple Mk 1 Songbook, the first appearance with on stage was at the Orpheum Hall in Graz, Austria, on March 11, 2009. It was a very powerful performance, and the audience was really surprised how much power and feeling has been in those songs and still is! No one of them has ever seen the original first line up of Deep Purple live, and now you could imagine how it must have been when they entered stage. Nick still is a very strong bass player, and with the Nasty Habits this music got to new life in a more than perfect way. Shows followed in Austria, Poland, Switzerland and Hungary, and it always was a great success. More than 4.300 people were in the audience at the Dolina Charlotty´s in Poland, again ending up with standing ovations. |
